Strip of bobbin lace with a band of ovals and a row of truncated cones

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Lille lace. The pattern consists of linked ovals with smaller openwork ovals inside them. On top of this continuous band stands between the smaller ovals always one truncated cone, with two lobes turned inwards at the top. The motifs are made with a circle-forming decorative ground, a rose ground. Thicker and shiny contour threads accentuate the forms. At the top of the strip the motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground, a tulle ground. The upper edge of the strip is finished straight. The scallops along the lower edge are formed by the ovals and are finished with picots.
