About this work
Strip of natural-coloured needle lace: Alençon lace. Repetitive motif with an alternation of four different, split flower twigs on a fine hexagonal mesh ground with transverse meshes. The flower twigs spring alternately from a cartouche along the lower edge and from the upper side of the strip. Filling with openings and limited filling with filler grounds in the larger flowers and in the cartouches. Contour lines with relief of buttonhole stitches. The upper side is edged with a border of bobbin lace. Slightly scalloped lower edge with a flower vine, finished with very fine picots.
