Strip of bobbin lace with flower branch and insect between two cartouches

Strip of natural-coloured Brussels bobbin lace. The strip is slightly curved in shape. The pattern consists of a hanging flower branch and a flying insect between two different shaped cartouches. The motifs are connected to each other by a fine mesh ground, a drochel ground. The work is largely made in linen stitch with openwork edges, some cutouts and with net stitch fillings. Various motifs have bobbin-relief contours. Various decorative grounds have been applied, including picoted plaited grounds. The upper side is finished with a separately bobbin-made strip, to which fragments of a hexagonal mesh ground are attached. The scalloped underside is finished with picots.
