About this work
Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Binche lace. The repeating and continuous pattern consists of a wavy leaf vine determining the shape of the shells. Below and above the wave crests are alternately a fan with hearts, a pear-shaped flower, a hanging carnation, and a pear-shaped flower with a four-lobed rosette in the top. The motifs are connected by netting fillings. The motifs are made in linen stitch with cutouts and openwork edges. Above the hanging carnation, a decorative ground with snowflakes is applied. The scalloped underside is provided with picots. The upper side is finished straight.
