About this work

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Binche lace. The repeating and continuous pattern consists of an elongated wavy acanthus leaf, flanked on both sides by a cup-shaped flower in a horn-shaped motif. Clamped between the successive horns lies always a bowl, formed by a one-sided feathered leaf, with a dot in it under a canopy. The motifs are connected by a decorative ground, a snowflake ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges and partly in net stitch. The scalloped underside follows the pattern, the scallops are finished with picots. The upper side is finished straight.
