About this work
Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, old Flemish lace. The pattern consists of wavy volute scrolls with various flowers including palmette flowers, irises and lilies. There are large openings between the motifs, connected with very few, but long and double braids with picots. The outlines are made with bobbin lace in linen stitch. Between the outlines, various decorative grounds are used and work is done in linen stitch with many cutouts. The top side is finished with a border of bobbin lace. The underside and sides are finished with a straight border of bobbin lace with picoted arches.
