Collar of bobbin lace with volute scrolls

Collar of natural-colored bobbin lace: Duchesse lace. U-shaped neckline with sharp points at the front and sides with corners that lie as points over the shoulders. The symmetrical pattern consists of volute scrolls, with a flower at each curling end. Some flowers, leaves and berries on side branches provide a shell border along all sides of the collar. The motifs are largely made in linen stitch with openwork edges and fine cutouts. Different parts of motifs are made in net stitch. The motifs are provided with thicker and shiny contour threads and here and there with bobbin-relief contours. Various (decorative) grounds are applied, including a Paris ground, a rose ground, a ground sown with square buttonhole stitches and also connections are made between some motifs with picoted braids. Embellishments are applied in various ways with buttonhole stitches. The shell borders are finished with picots.
