Oil can, belonging to a spice service. The oil can rests on a six-lobed foot upon which, above a narrow reeded rim, a diabolus-shaped intermediate piece is placed. Above this rises the body, shaped like a pine cone, decorated with drop-shaped protrusions. On the neck, which widens towards the top, is a multi-profiled hinged lid crowned by a knob in the shape of a pine cone. The can has a standing S-shaped handle decorated with reeding at the top and an S-shaped spout whose end is formed by a monster head with soft, lobe-like forms. Marked on the foot rim: city mark Amsterdam; year mark L = 1642; maker's mark ooievaar between AG.
