Cupboard

Herman Doomer, the most famous ebony woodworker in Amsterdam in the early 17th century, played an important role in the development of this new specialty in the city's furniture-making industry. This cupboard is likely his first spectacular masterpiece. The radiant mother-of-pearl was inlaid by another master craftsman specialized in this technique, Jean Bellequin. He engraved the various fruits, birds, and other ornamental motifs that embellish this cupboard.
