The binding consists of rectangular plates and a spine divided into vertical segments by ribs. All sides are decorated with gilded tooling; the front and back with floral patterns and ornaments grouped along the edges and center, the spine with flower bouquets. On the second segment from the top, this series is interrupted by the word BIBLIA. The edge of the text block is gilded and decorated with tulips. Silver book clasps are attached by means of screws and nuts. The book clasps each consist of a catch, a clasp arm and a terminal piece, respectively connected to each other by a five-lobed hinge and three locking arms. The catch, clasp arm and terminal piece are each designed as a medallion in a frame composed of scroll motifs. The medallions contain representations; the catches and terminal pieces depict allegorical symbols in pairs.
