About this work

Strip of natural-colored needle lace: Alençon lace. Sprig motif with an oval flower on a twig on a fine hexagonal mesh ground. The pattern at the bottom of the strip consists of a winding twig, to which outwardly directed cup-shaped flowers, filled with filler grounds including a fine diamond stitch. Further branches with rosette flowers and small round leaves. The upper edge is finished with a straight border. The lower edge is finished with a nearly straight border with very fine picots. Restorations were carried out in the 19th century.
