About this work

Collar of natural-coloured mixed lace - mezzo punto - with a cutwork or woven ribbon and a needle lace ground. Rectangular narrow model with slightly slanted short sides and one slightly curved long side. On a mesh ground (needle lace) is an almost symmetrical pattern consisting of linked S-shaped stems with curved leaves and at the ends of the collar a drop-shaped leaf. The contours of the flowers and stems consist of cutwork or woven ribbons. Various decorative grounds (needle lace) are applied within the contours. A cutwork scalloped border serves as finishing along the outer sides, with the exception of the long curved side which is finished with a straight (without scallops) cutwork band.
