About this work

In a landscape, Jacob lies to the left with his head resting on his right arm on a stone before two trees and a stone wall. At his feet, a ladder leans diagonally toward the cloudy sky; two angels stand at the bottom, one climbing upward and the fourth appearing to descend. At the top of the ladder, Christ emerges from the clouds; on the far right, a city. The bottom of the relief runs into a diagonally placed cartouche.
