About this work

Cherrywood chair with a rush seat. The legs and the eight stretchers are turned. The corner stiles of the back are columnar jointed with thickening in the middle. The lower and upper rails are symmetrically pierced, as is the middle rail which displays an openwork heart as a central panel and both stiles on either side. As a crowning of the corner stiles, vases are attached.
