About this work
Cherrywood chair with a rush seat. The legs, the five stretchers, and the H-shaped cross are turned and feature joints, except for the two rear stretchers. The corner stiles of the back are columnar jointed. The lower and upper rails are scalloped. The upper rail is crowned with a punched vase with flowers, flanked by acanthus volutes. The middle rail has a recess with a rosette in the center and, like the two other stiles, is pierced. The corner stiles are crowned with vases.
