Cuff of needle lace with hanging points of bobbin lace

Cuff of natural-colored Venetian needle lace "gros point", trimmed with a strip of old Flemish bobbin lace. The needle lace has a pattern of flowers and volutes. The motifs are provided with contour threads and partially with thick cords, decorated with picots. Various decorative stitches are used within each motif. The bobbin lace pattern consists of hanging goblet flowers, possibly tulips. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges and cutouts. The upper side of the cuff is finished with a scalloped edge (needle lace). The scalloped edges are finished with picots. And the short sides are finished with a scalloped band. The scalloped edge of bobbin lace is presumably older than the needle lace and was manufactured in the Southern Netherlands. The needle lace was manufactured in Italy. The laces were assembled into a cuff in the 19th century.
