Strip of bobbin lace with flower with pointed petals and four-lobed rosette

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Cluny lace. The repeating pattern consists on the center line of the strip of alternately a flower with eight long pointed petals and a four-lobed rosette made with four linked circles. Along the upper side of the strip lies directly above the flower a similar but flatter four-lobed rosette. And directly above each rosette on the center line lies along the upper side of the strip a triangular field. Along the underside linked circles form a scalloped edge. Most motifs are made in linen stitch and largely provided with thick contour threads. The petals are made in shape stitch. Shape stitches are also used to make thick dots in the linen work, in among others the flower heart and the circular motifs in the rosettes and the border along the underside. The motifs are connected to each other by picoted braids. The upper side of the strip is finished straight.
