About this work
Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Cluny lace. The repeating pattern consists of a double row of flowers with eight petals, made in shape stitch. The flowers stand in a network of long and shorter picoted braids, which form more or less rhomboid fields, with one flower in each field. Along the underside of the strip runs a regularly wavy decorative band, which also forms the scalloped edge. Each shell consists of smaller lobes which are alternately formed by an arch in net stitch, an arch made with a braid work and an arch in net stitch with an openwork center. The upper side of the strip is finished straight.
