Jug with the Good Samaritan

Fragment of a stoneware jug on a high foot with a cylindrical body, rounded shoulder, and narrow neck with a pinched spout. The handle is attached to the neck and shoulder. Profiles on the neck, belly, and foot. On the cylindrical part of the belly in relief a printed and applied band with the history of the Good Samaritan. Below it the inscription 'DA SPRACH IHSVS ZU IHM SO GEHE DU HIN UND THV DESZ GLEICHEN AUCH SANT LVCE AM X CAPITEL 1619' and the mark 'I.C.'. The lower part of the belly slopes diagonally in cannelures to the foot. The shoulder is divided into compartments with alternating stamped rosettes or cut-out decoration. On the neck a lion's head in relief. Attached to the handle a tin mount with lid and finial. On the lid the mark 'C.S.'. Westerwald.
