About this work
Storage jug (bearded man jug) of stoneware on a wavy foot with an egg-shaped body and wide neck. The C-shaped handle is attached to the neck and shoulder. Profiles on the neck and shoulder. Covered with a brown engobe and cobalt blue. The jug is decorated with spiral rings. On the belly, in relief, three times a printed and applied medallion with a coat of arms and the border inscription 'GERADT VON HANXLER VND [...]' and '1582'. On the neck, continuing onto the shoulder, a bearded man. Langerwehe.
