About this work

Fragment of natural-coloured sun lace (needle lace): Tenerife lace. Rectangular model where two equal strips of lace are joined with a narrow linen strip. The symmetrical pattern of both lace strips consists of two rectangular fields with a square field between them. In the middle, square field stands a round flower on a short stem with slightly bent rectangular leaves. The flower heart is oval with an arrow-shaped crown. Two semicircular petals close around the flower heart, with an opening at the top where the arrow stands between. Sixteen 'suns' surround the flower. Left and right in the rectangular fields stands a square with strongly rounded corners with a four-lobed motif inside. Above and below the square, a half sun.
