About this work
She stands with the right knee slightly forward on the moon, presses the naked child against herself with the left hand and supports its legs with the right. The child, with head raised, holds an open book in both hands and has a rosary around the neck, from which hangs a cross. Mary wears on the hair, which falls partially over the shoulders forward, a wreath wound with a pearl string. Under a kirtle with rectangular neck opening a shirt, which is trimmed at the neck with passementerie; the mantle hanging from the shoulders is gathered under the elbows and draped to the left.
