Strip of bobbin lace with an incomplete pattern of a flower and two leaves

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The pattern consists of a curved leaf, which takes up almost the entire width of the strip, with next to it a smaller heart-shaped leaf from which a flower springs with a curved stem. The short strip does not show a complete pattern, it is cut off where the flower ends and on the other side it is cut across a motif. The motifs in the incomplete pattern are connected by a fine lattice ground, a five-hole ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with cutouts, and with thicker and shiny contour threads. A decorative ground is applied under the curved stem, a fine snowflake ground. The shallow scalloped underside results from the pattern and is finished with picots. The top is finished straight.
