About this work
Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Cluny lace. The repeating pattern consists of a circle with a rising or setting sun inside. The sun is made in linen stitch and the rays are made in shape stitch. The top of the circle is made with a band in linen stitch. The bottom of the circle, which also forms a semicircular shell, is finished with a zigzagging braid with a picot at each corner. The successive circles are connected at the top by a mesh ground, a knotted mesh ground. The top side of the strip is finished straight.
