Strip of bobbin lace with three stacked round forms in a deep shell

Strip of natural Genoese bobbin lace. The pattern is made after a seventeenth-century example. The repeating pattern consists of a border along the top with a row of diamonds made with braids, from which hang isosceles triangles made in linen stitch. Between the successive triangles hang openwork half oval scallops. Along each scallop nine lobes are made with picoted braids. With a continuous openwork ribbon three round forms are realized. The forms are stacked from bottom to top in the scallop, merge into each other and increase in size. Besides with braids, connections are also made with leaves in shaped stitch. The top of the strip is finished straight.
