Strip of bobbin lace with circle in a horizontal arch above three wavy lines

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Cluny lace. The repeating pattern consists of three synchronously wavy lines. In each valley of the top wave line lies an openwork arch, which encloses a circle. The arch is a kind of indented oval in which vertical connections are made in shape stitch. In the circle a flower is made with four petals in shape stitch and overlapping pairs. Transverse connections between the wave lines made in linen stitch are also made vertical connections at short distances from each other, with both braids and overlapping pairs. A regularly twisting fourth line made in linen stitch runs along the underside of the strip and forms a three-lobed shell directly under the wave valleys. The upper side of the strip is finished straight. The scalloped edge along the underside is finished with picots.
