Strip of bobbin lace with stars and wheels

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace. The repeating pattern alternates between a wheel and an eight-pointed star. The outline of the motifs consists of a band made in buttonhole stitch. Inside the outline, 'spokes' are made with braids. Above the wheels runs a straight band. Below the wheels and stars runs a band forming semicircular shells, with five lobes formed by arches. Bands and arches are both made in buttonhole stitch. The motifs are connected by a braided ground forming coarse diamond meshes, like a Valenciennes ground. The top edge of the strip is straight finished with a zigzagging braid. The arches on the shells are finished with a few picots.
