About this work
In the flat of the bowl, a representation of the Lamb of God (John 1:29-36) is stamped with a die-stamp, with halo, staff, banner, and chalice into which the blood is collected. This is surrounded by a stamped border of stylized leaf ornament and blown bubbles. On the rim, a border of stylized leaf ornament is also stamped. The hanging ring at the back and the hole in the rim were added later.
