About this work

Fragment of a stoneware jug on a high foot with a cylindrical body, rounded shoulder, and wide neck. Profiles on the neck, belly, and foot. Covered with a brown engobe. On the belly, relief-printed and applied, upside-down scenes from the history of Susanna, with the inscription below: 'INT KORTE EIT GESNEIDEN ANNO 1584/ DIT IS DEI SCHONE HESTORIA VAN SUSANNA INT KORTE EIT GESNEIDEN ANNO 1584'. The shoulder is divided into two bands of incised panels containing a double S-shape. On the neck, an applied band of portraits and faces in arches. Raeren.
