About this work
Fragment of natural-colored bobbin lace. Rectangular model, possibly a wide strip where the underside and one side are cut off diagonally. The pattern consists of a kind of scattered fantasy motifs, curved lines with short blunt protrusions. The motifs are connected to each other by a mesh ground, a rhombus-shaped Valenciennes ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges. Running along the top side is a straight band in linen stitch. The rough thread with which it was bobbin lace, was spun by mountain dwellers from the Abruzzo.
