About this work
Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace: Lille lace. The repeating and continuous pattern consists of a band along the lower edge of the strip from which a half-circular bump rises at regular intervals. Above this, the strip consists of a lattice ground, a Paris ground. The motifs are worked in linen stitch; along the bottom and top, with the bumps, runs a thicker, shiny contour thread. The top and bottom edges of the strip are finished straight, the bottom edge being provided with picots.
