Strip of bobbin lace with ovals formed by contour thread

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: strop lace. The repeating and symmetrical pattern consists along the lower side of the strip of a series of pointed ovals formed by two winding contour threads worked in a closed buttonhole ground. At regular intervals a larger oval forms from the pointed ovals which reaches to the upper side of the strip, whereby the threads at the top of the strip run in a straight line along the upper side to the next large oval. The trellis ground is openwork in the center of each large oval. Top and bottom of the strip are finished straight, the bottom being provided with picots.
