Strip of bobbin lace with linked obliquely placed rectangles

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. Under a scattered pattern of hanging round flowers with one leaf lies a decorative band along the lower side of the strip, which is built up with connected and slightly tilted rectangles. The edges of the rounded rectangles are sparse branches with whimsical leaves. The lower edge forms a curl inwards, from which a branch with round leaves springs and fills the center of the rectangle. Between the successive rectangles is a narrow openwork edge filled with ovals in linen stitch, without contour threads. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground, a Mechelen ground. The sparse solid work is made in linen stitch with thicker and shiny contour threads. The upper side of the strip is finished with a separately bobbin-laced band. The lower side is presumably finished straight and provided with picots, but this is no longer clearly visible due to limited damage.
