Bobbin lace strip with linked C-shaped motifs and bows

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace. Above the center line of the strip stands a row of butterflies or leaves. The pattern below consists of a stringing together of lying C-shaped motifs, which are alternately directed with the open side up and down. Under the C-shaped motifs with the opening facing down hangs a kind of knot, creating an oval space. The motifs are connected by two different mesh grounds: above the C's with a Parisian ground and below by a round Valenciennes ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch and net stitch, partly provided with thicker and shiny contour threads. As ornament ground a rose ground is applied. The top and bottom of the strip are finished straight, where the lower side is provided with picots.
