About this work

New Year's greeting from the Amsterdam night watch (rattle watch) for the year 1846. Several men walking at night with rattles through a street in front of the Beurs van Zocher. Oval composition with Liberty on the left and a river god on the right. With a poem in two columns. On behalf of the night watch in quarter No. 23 of the 2nd section of the Police: A. Hofstee, W. Riethoorn, H. van der Meij and P. van Oenen.
