About this work

The fire in the Old Town Hall of Amsterdam and some adjacent buildings on 7 July 1652. To illustrate the old and new methods of fire fighting. On the left an attempt is made to extinguish the fire with buckets and ladders, on the right the fire is fought with fire engines. With handwritten four-line caption in Dutch and French and handwritten letters on the image. At the top the text: 3rd Figure Page: 9. Subject categories within the Atlas Zeden en Gewoonten: Government, Fire Brigade.
