About this work
The fire in the Old Town Hall of Amsterdam and some adjacent buildings on July 7, 1652. To illustrate the old and new methods of firefighting. On the left, an attempt is made to extinguish the fire with buckets and ladders; on the right, the fire is fought with fire engines. Later states (with the letter) are plate 3 in the Fire Engine Book by Jan van der Heyden.
