Peasant court at Puiterveen

Before the peasant court of Puiterveen, on the left stand the weeping Fobert and his father, and on the right the pregnant Swaantje between Jonker Jan and her parents. Swaantje is pregnant by the son of the lord of Puijterveen, but Fobert is accused of this act. The corrupt lawyer of Fobert is pleading, while the lawyer for the opposing party listens. Behind the table sit the sheriff and aldermen. At the bottom of the margin, a four-line verse in Dutch and French.
