About this work
The skiffs are taken out of the water at Cape Nassau and are besieged by three polar bears, 28 and 29 June 1597. In the foreground, two of the polar bears are eating a third, shot dead bear. Opposite page 103 in: 'True Account of the Three New, Unheard-of, Strange Voyages Performed by the Dutch and Zeeland Ships in the Years 1594, 1595, and 1596' (1598).
