Six Labourers

On a slope outside a group of men is drawn. Three stand and two sit on the ground. Far left only the head (with felt hat) and shoulders of a sixth figure are drawn. He wears a worn hat (toppiya) and a Portuguese shirt (kamisaya). The second man from the left wears a knee-length hip-cloth (veshti, lungi) wrapped around the waist. His upper body is bare. The sleeveless shirt (kamisaya) he holds over his right shoulder. The standing man in the middle is dressed in a knee-length hip-cloth (veshti, lungi) with a bare upper body. Over his right shoulder hangs a shirt (kamisaya). In front of them sits a young man frontally on the ground, paying full attention to the drawer. He wears a short rolled-up hip-cloth (veshti, lungi) and an open shirt with long sleeves (kamisaya). His short hair is curly. The man standing next to him wears a sleeveless long shirt of checkered fabric. Under the frayed edge a short hip-cloth of the same checkered fabric is visible.
