Three women labourers

Outside, two standing and one sitting woman pose. Their faces show South Indian features. The women wear a South Indian wrap cloth (selai or sari) wrapped around their waists, the end of which is draped over the back over the shoulder to the front. For the woman on the left, it covers her right shoulder and entire upper body. On her head she has a headscarf folded. The woman in the middle has only her right shoulder covered but leaves her breasts bare. She also covers her head and hair with a wide pleated headscarf. The woman on the right sits with crossed knees on the ground. The end of the hip cloth falls over her right shoulder and partially covers her breasts. She has wavy hair, parted in the middle and pulled back into a bun (condé). Sheet 97 from a sketchbook with 117 sheets.
