Two men

Outside, two men stand. The man on the left wears a knee-length hip-cloth (veshti, lungi) and a large shawl (chadar) around his torso and right shoulder. What he wears on his head is not clear. It could be a knotted cloth with edges and knots sticking out. On the right stands a young man dressed in a hip-cloth draped obliquely in the Sinhalese manner. Above this, a high-closed shirt with long sleeves (kamisaya). It is unclear whether the shirt hangs over the hips with a cloth around the waist, or if the shirt is short and the hip-cloth is wide and folded at the waist. His long hair is parted in the middle and hangs wavy over his shoulders. The origin of the man on the left is likely South India or Jaffna; the man on the right is Sinhalese from former Portuguese Colombo. Both were likely employed in reconstruction.
