About this work

Part of a pair. The cock of the lock is engraved with a snake's head, the lock plate with a dog and a hunting bird, below which is the signature accompanied by an emblem with a leaping deer. The barrel is stamped on top with * LAZARINO * COMINAZZO * and underneath with ZC under a star. The stock of black walnut is simply carved. The iron furniture includes, among other things, a screw plate in the shape of a sea snake with a curled tail, a crowned, heart-shaped thumb plate with an unidentified heraldic coat of arms, and an unadorned butt cap with long spur marks and a concentrically stepped butt plate; the ramrod is fitted with an iron cap.
