Flintlock pistol

Part of a pair. The lock is engraved with leafy vines, animal heads, and a signature. The barrel is engraved with foliage and the same signature on a rib running over the barrel to the brass front sight bead; stamped at the rear with the coat of arms of Utrecht and underneath with a mark in the shape of a crowned heart. The stock of burl walnut is simply carved. The iron furniture includes, among other things, a screw plate in the shape of a coiled sea snake, a large, heart-shaped thumb plate with a decorated edge, and a butt plate with a flower on it; the walnut ramrod is fitted with an iron cap.
