Flintlock pistol

Part of a pair. The lock is engraved with edges, leafy vines, and a signature of the maker. The barrel is provided with three bands with rings and a gilded brass front sight bead in the shape of a grotesque mask in relief; marked on top with the coat of arms of Utrecht and underneath twice with a crowned heart. The stock is simply carved with, among other things, acanthus leaves. The formerly gilded brass furniture with chased relief decoration, except for the two octagonal ramrod pipes, consists of a trigger guard with a mask on it, a symmetrical screw plate of pierced leafy vines around a mask, a crowned thumb plate with birds on either side and a mask underneath, and a butt cap with a mask at the bottom; the ramrod is fitted with a cowhorn cap.
