Flintlock pistol

The lock is engraved with the maker's name; rainproof pan; inside of the lock plate stamped with J : P. The barrel is lightly engraved with foliate work in rococo style on top; the front sight bead is of yellow copper; at the rear stamped with the coat of arms of Amsterdam and a mark in the form of a globe with a cross. The stock is simply carved with, among other things, a leaf; the fore-end is fitted with a cap of cowhorn. The formerly gilded, yellow copper furniture, partially with chased relief decoration, consists of, among other things, a screw plate in two parts, each consisting of partially openwork foliate scrolls in rococo style, a trigger guard with the same decoration and further fruit garlands and flowers, a trigger guard plate framed by a relief border with a three-petaled flower at the top and a leaf at the bottom, and a stock cap decorated in the same way as the trigger guard with additionally engraved flowers; the ramrod is fitted with a cap of cowhorn.
