Flint Belt Pistol

This belt pistol was probably from the States Navy; part of a pair. The lock is the same as that of 173; imitation of the French Model 1777; the lock plate bears a signature and is stamped on the inside with an M. The barrel is stamped at the back with the coat of arms of Amsterdam and at the bottom with the letters HH; the sight bead is of brass. The stock is simply carved; the recess for the tail of the barrel is stamped with a Broad Arrow mark. The brass furniture consists of a drawer band, a ramrod tube, an unadorned thumb plate and the trigger guard; an iron trigger plate and belt hook; the wooden ramrod is provided with a brass cap.
