Flintlock pocket pistol

Pocket pistol with flintlock mechanism; part of a pair. The barrel and lock form a single unit. The lock is like an open cabinet lock and is simply engraved with, among other things, a signature; rainproof pan. The tapering barrel is engraved at the back with rococo foliage; provided with various rings, including near the muzzle as if it were a cannon. The curved stock is largely decorated with asymmetrical curls of inlaid silver wire. The iron trigger guard, engraved with rococo leafy vines, can be pushed forward to lock the trigger; the rest of the furniture is of cast silver with chased relief decoration and consists of an openwork screw plate consisting of a trophy collection of weapons, musical instruments, the barrel of a cannon and a barrel with cannonballs, and a stock cap with a grotesque mask; there is no provision for a ramrod.
