About this work

The hilt of this hunting sword has an asymmetrical grip like that of a knife, covered with white shagreen and gilded yellow-copper furniture; the quillon is finished with a cap with a knob on it; below it is a pommel. Two à la Montmorency grooves run over the curved blade; the blade is decorated with an arrow, a panel surrounded by plaitwork motifs with the address of the sword polisher in cursive, a running boar, and a leaping stag.
