About this work

A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) in his left hand. With his thumb and middle finger of his right hand, he gives the burning match on the cock (part of the firing mechanism) of his musket the correct position and shape. This print is part of the series of 43 hand-numbered prints of musketeers in the Wapenhandelinghe.
